CIAN security analysts are responsible for IDS event monitoring and analysis, security incident handling, incident reporting and threat analysis. The candidate sought will analyze network traffic, IDS alerts, network system logs, and open source information to detect and report threats to customer networks. The candidate will determine appropriate response actions required and may also be an integral part of incident response functions during incident investigation, vulnerability assessments, malware analysis, and the development of new defensive security solutions.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:

Create, modify, and update IDS and Security Information Management (SIM) tool rules.
Recognize potential, successful, and unsuccessful intrusion attempts and compromises through thorough reviews and analyses of relevant event detail and summary information.
Perform preliminary forensic evaluations of internal systems.
Communicate alerts to agencies regarding intrusions and compromises to their network infrastructure, applications and operating systems. Assists with implementation of counter-measures or mitigating controls.
Generate end-of-shift reports for documentation and knowledge transfer to subsequent analysts on duty.
Evaluate firewall change requests and assess organizational risk.
