A5.com announced today a new partnership with Symantec, a leader in security technology and services, to deploy new tools to further secure corporate networks and services for its clients. In addition to hosted email security scanning, A5 will deploy Symantec’s Endpoint Protection Services to their clients’ systems, as well as Web Security services, which provide scanning of malicious web content and code before it reaches its intended target system.
Eric Fisher, Director of Data Center Operations, described the new services and relationship, “Symantec brings a long track record in security services to the table and offers a number of options to help secure our clients’ networks. In addition to email virus and spam filtering services, we found their web content and malware filtering service to be very valuable for our clients. One of the most dangerous vectors for infection and compromise over the Internet today is malicious web content—where the end-user’s web browser gets exploited by a malicious web page and thereby compromises the computer. Very few firewalls are able to scan and catch those exploits, so it’s our recommendation to filter your web surfing through a service like Symantec Web Security to make sure your users and network assets aren’t at risk.”
A5 began the rollout of the Symantec Email Security suite earlier this month, displacing services they’ve used with Postini/Google. Users can expect to see email notices about the new email security service and configuration options in the coming weeks.
